Dutch Apples

Well, well, well ...... I'm thrilled ..... another top ..... another UFO written off the list!

Since I'm on a roll with UFO's ..... while tidying up my studio yesterday, my hands touched a bin and well, why not work on you?  That is my next post.

Cherish your day, cherish your life!  Wear a mask, wash your hands, keep your distance, don't gather and when it is your turn for the vaccine ..... get it.

Dusting ....

..... as in dusting off an UFO!

It was time to take this project off the shelf and work on it.

My original plan was to make a lap size quilt by adding an applique border to the top and bottom.  In the end, it will be a wall hanging instead.  This is the start of the layout.

Oh yes, I'm loving this a lot!
At the same time, bags and bags of batting are being sorted.  One batting has already been assembled.  A few more to go.

It has been very cold up here lately.  It is February and the cold weather is expected.  The days are getting longer and soon the temps will start to warm up.  Spring will start to show up in about two months.

Hard to believe that we have been in lockdown for almost two months now.  The lockdown will continue in our area as the variant is here now.  I'll be wearing two masks now when I do my groceries.

Cherish your day, cherish your life ..... wear two masks, wash your hands, keep your distance and don't gather to celebrate any event.  Life is too precious for everyone!

Lotta Tulips

Well, I hung in there and sewed away to my heart's content and finished all the tulip blocks and the circle blocks!  Love, love, love this!  As each row was done, those rows were all sewn together so that when the time came to sew on the last two rows, it was simple and the centre was completed lickety- spit.  Now, borders!

In my cleaning up process, I've been sewing together batting scraps.  Got to get those under control.  When I told my hubby what I was doing, he asked if I was cleaning out the OMG shower stall.  LOL  It was time, the stall was overflowing!  First up is my poly batting.  It will feel good to use these pieces up and tame the batting scraps.
Cherish your day, cherish you life ..... wear a mask, wash your hands, keep your distance and get a vaccination shot!

Diamond Star

The last time this project was worked on was April 2011.  A long time ago!  It was probably pinned on the wall for me to think about the borders and what to do and then promptly shelved.

Fast forward to February 2021 and out came the bin.  It was time!  Up on the design wall it went.  What to do with borders?

When it was pinned onto the design wall last week, I could see there were a few areas on the outside sides that needed completion before working on borders.  So, rummaging through my scraps, fabric was found and before you knew it, all those places were done.  A few half hexagons and diamonds and full hexagons.  That is all that was needed to be done with the centre section.  Now, onto the borders.

My original plan was to do a vine with leaves all around on the borders.  A lot of leaves were cut out and prepped.  I hemmed and hawwed about leaves or no leaves.  That is why it got shelved ten years ago.  No more.  A decision had to be made.  Still, it would look so nice with all these leaves!

Nope, that idea was nixed.  Don't worry, those leaves will be used elsewhere.
Just plain borders will do, thank you.  I want this top done and done now.

Finally, this top is DONE!  Whew .... it only took a week to finish up.  What took so long ...... eh!  LOL  This top is so lovely to look at on this winter deary afternoon.  The sun is trying to peek through the clouds.  No to worry, I have my sunshine on my design wall!

Anyway, another top will be going to my lovely LAer.  Best start working on backings and battings as I want this top and my Wheels top out of here soon.

Another UFO will be pulled off the shelf.  I wonder which one it will be?
