Just took a trip

A trip to Zinnia's Garden.  That is the name of the fabric line that was used in this top below:

It is not often that a whole line is purchased .... but I just had to do something with this fabric.

There will be more tops made using this pattern.  It has to be one of my favourites to date. 

If you look at the top sideways, it is the Great-Granny Block or set on-point, it is a Trip Around The World.  This block is so versatile.

Since starting up my Pinterest account, I made a folder especially for TATW patterns.  That is how you can tell that this pattern is special to me.

Are you confused by the title?  Read on.

If I hadn't spent the last five days at the cottage, this top would be done by now.  However, you can see that a lot of progress has been made.  The diagonal rows have been sewn together and the setting triangles have almost been sewn together. 

I have to show you this block below:

Can you see what I did on purpose?  Reversed the brown fabric so that it was more muted looking.  This brown fabric was auditioned and it was just too strong.  So after looking at the back, I decided to use that side.  The things we quilters do to make our projects work.

Final layout and July 2014 OPAM

After a couple of days ....

My quilt is growing and I'm loving it more and more with each block made.  After a bit of thought, this is the layout that I'm going with. 

Do you want to see my latest basket acquisition?  This beauty was found at Chapters on a shopping day to Sudbury, Ontario last week.  It was a bonus deal at 50% off.  I just couldn't leave it there!  :o)

I really shouldn't ...

..... start a new quilt .... but I just couldn't help myself. 

You know, when blogland starts a trend, sometimes I jump on the bandwagon right away and other times, I join in years later.  Do you remember the Great Granny quilts that were the rage about a year ago?  It has been on my 'to do' list and the time was right to make one of those quilts.

This is my version so far.  Four blocks on the right are done and four blocks on the left are ready to be assembled.

My quilt will be a good size lap quilt once the borders go on.

I just needed something quick and easy to do and this pattern fits the mood perfectly.
