This is the e-mail that I received this morning:
Hi Aunt Rose,
Just had to write to tell you that Riley was "Special Helper" at school yesterday, meaning he got to bring in a show and tell item. The letter of the week was Q so what he brought in needed to start with Q. When I said that we would have to think hard about what he could show, he ran into his room and came out with the quilt you made for him and said "it's not hard, I'll bring in my special blanket quilt!"
It is an I Spy quilt and the fabrics were collected over a few years. For this quilt, there is cotton and poly/cotton fabrics. Whatever caught my eye, got bought.
Have a great weekend!

what a sweet story. i can see why he would have thought of that quilt right away as it is sooo pretty. what a lucky little guy.
So sweet. Those I Spy quilts are lots of fun. I made one about 18 years ago when my nephew was a wee one. He loved the I Spy books and his quilt was a bit hit!
I would think you made the lesson easy for Riley's teacher ,First the Q then all the other items to discuss wonderful ....love Jan xx
Loved that story. Quilt is by far the best thing starting with Q.
( That looks very like the 2nd quilt I ever made - it was an I Spy too for a great neice. )
Obviously Riley loves his quilt, and I can see why! That's a good design with sashing and cornerstones - must keep it in mind.
Oh how special is that.....how good does that make you feel....gorgeous quilt...
Beautiful job on the I Spy quilt and a sweet story as well! There is no greater compliment to a quilter than a recipient that loves their quilt:)
That's a great quilt story, clever 5 year old! I can bet you felt proud to have made it for him.
