Progress slowing down ....

Gosh, I had to think hard about doing this post.  I just don't feel like much has been happening the last two weeks.  But, surprise, surprise!

This is the back of my Hexie Log Cabin quilt as you go.  I've been working on Row 7 and when my last two hexies are completed, then that row can be added to the main body.

Then, I was busy cutting out strips ....
... to make another bargello quilt like this one below.
Then, I was busy pulling out fabrics to see which ones would work for borders for this top.  Lots and lots of fabrics were pulled, auditioned and these are the final decision.  This was a hard choice to find and I'm not totally happy with the final choice, but it will do.
The days here are getting cooler.  Our temps have been hovering between 0C to 10C and this little guy is looking for warmth.  He likes our fireplace.  We even find him laying on top of the fireplace to soak up any extra heat.
Why do I feel that not much progress has happened?  Night time is my time to do handwork ..... except Ridley has decided that is his time to cuddle on my lap or literally in my arms like a baby.  Not much happens then except watch some t.v.  He had two seizures last week and the vet has increased his meds.   We will see how long before the next round of seizures happen again.  I do find after a bout, he is even more cuddly.  His seizures this time have changed.  Towards the end, he suddenly surges forward and will crash head first into anything.  I stay with him and try to restrain him to prevent hurting himself but he is so strong.  The first bout, he went head first into a corner where my quilts are stored.  That was lucky for him.  Second bout, he went head first into a wall until I was able to grab him and then hold him down.  After these two bouts, his recovery time was much longer.  Poor little guy.
Blogger has been doing changes to their system and is screwing up functions.  Just to do this post was difficult.  Also, when anyone leaves a comment, I am unable to reply back as everyone comes through as no-reply.  So, lately, if you left a comment .... thank you!

Scrappy Bargello

My sister and I went to the cottage this week for an overnight stay.  What was supposed to be a nice, sunny turned out to be cold and rainy.  So, no sitting on the porch in that weather.  Instead, we sat inside and while my sister read a book, I finished sewing the binding down onto this quilt.

Close-up of the quilting design called "Squig" by T.J. Speiser Stitch Happy.  It is like a meander and I wanted something simple for the quilt.
Quilt Details:
Source:  A Bonnie Hunter free pattern at Quiltville
Started:  March 2024
Quilt Finished:  September 2024
Machine Quilted by:  Kathy Wareham
Quilt Size:  61" x 77"
Batting:  Hobbs polyester

Lately, I've noticed that quilts are being started and finished in the same year.  That is such a good thing.  No need for more UFO's.

There will be more babysitting this coming weekend and there is another quilt with binding already sewn on.  So, I'm hoping to get a good start on that quilt and hope for another finish this month.

The wedding last weekend was lovely ..... except it was pouring rain and very cold.  Up the hill and surrounding areas ..... they had snow!  Still, we had a good time and wore our winter coats.   The funny thing is that I wore sandals and was barefoot.  My toes were a tad cold and wet from walking in the rain.  Oh well, what we do for fashion, eh!   This is one of my favourite photos of the newlyweds.
I will be making a wedding quilt from all the squares that guests signed at the reception.

Bargello is done!

Yippee .... my bargello is now a top!  My version of a bargello, that is.  Remember, I tossed the pattern!  LOL

I just plugged away at adding strip after strip after strip until there were no more strips.  Glad that was finally done with.

Then .... what the heck ..... get those borders on pronto!  So, I did.

Done!  Now, I can breathe a bit and get backing and batting ready.
Isn't this dragonfly fabric lovely?  It is a variegated batik fabric.  Love it!
Normally, I don't like working with batiks, but the bonus is there is no fraying of the fabric and with all those strips, there would have been a ton.

I'm glad that I did do this pattern, but that is it for any more repeats.  Once was enough!

Now, onto the next UFO!

UFO Coming Along

Great progress has been made.  Extra strips were cut to make this top a tad wider.  Border fabrics have been chosen and pretty soon this will be a completed top.

I'm happy with my 'winging it' thought.  Hubby and I were analysing the design and I think it looks like Northern Lights but Hubby thinks it looks like the 4th wave of Covid.  Whatever, I'm just happy with it now.

UFO Time!

This UFO has been on the shelf for at least 5 years now.  Time to get it done.  All the strips have been cut out .... they just need to be sewn together.  The pattern and I parted ways years ago and I'm just going to wing it and see what design comes up.

There are only two pieces of fabric in the pattern.  All I can remember is that a variegated batik and a solid fabric are used.  So simple, but the layout was confusing to me.  So, the pattern got tossed.  LOL
