Guild Meeting and Goodies

Guess what I won tonight at our Guild meeting? All of this was in the basket.

I had my camera but forgot to take photos of Show and Share. Oh well …. must have been snoozing. You know the saying: You snooze, you loose!

Since the fall of 2006, our Guild has had a UFO challenge. There were four teams, and our team won the challenge. We finished 12 items! There is a prize for this! Yippee, our team will be hosted at a member’s cottage in Collingwood for a two night stay. I’ve never been to that neck of the woods, so it will be interesting. Not sure if it will be a sewing weekend or just tramping around the area. Details, dates, etc. to be determined.

Seventeen members participated in the challenge and 45 items were finished. Regardless if there was a prize or not, I feel that we were all winners as these items are done, done, done!

Have a great evening!

Guild Night

Above are the blocks (Honey Bees) that were drawn for a lucky lady! Each person that brings in a block, gets a ticket for the draw. I’ve won in the past, but not lately. Oh well!

Won’t these hearts make a lovely twin size quilt? I wonder what alternating block she will choose?

We had a marvelous speaker (Lucy Anne Duffy-www.lucyanne.org) for the meeting. It was a scrap lover’s paradise! Wow, what wonderful scrap quilts and tops she had for showing to us. Sorry, but I didn’t take any photos of her quilts to share. Lucy had one top that came from her grandmother and it was glorious. The fabric was very fragile and Lucy will send it out to the Mennonite ladies to quilt as they know how to work with fragile fabrics.

Isn’t this quilt wonderful? A member of the guild made this quilt. Can you see all the tops on the table in front? Those are Lucy’s quilts and tops that she showed.

Have a great day!

Guild Night

This is tonight’s B.O.M. for our Guild. Members can chose to do just a plain nine patch or the one with the honey bees or they can do both! Ummm, I can see a new quilt in my crystal ball. Scrappy, for sure!

While I was away, this is the only block that was embroidered. I can’t believe how unproductive my week went. Oh well, time to catch up now that I'm at home. Good news, though, my sister likes the new project. Glad she does, since it will be hers (only 4 years late)! :o)

The stack of magazines is going to my Guild meeting tonight for donation. Feels good to get rid of stuff that I don’t need anymore and someone else can enjoy. :o)

Have a great day!

Nine-patch and primitive stars B.O.M.

These blocks were the B.O.M. for Jan. 2007 with my Guild. Another lady and I pick and choose which months we want to be responsible for the blocks and these were my choices. We’ve been throwing in two blocks to make as there are members who prefer to do either appliqué or patch and this way both are included in the B.O.M. We give them the choice to do both or just one of their choices. Do you see the one lone star block on the right?
I really liked these blocks so much that I just had to make a quilt. No, I didn't win these at the meeting. Another lucky lady walked away with them!
