Summer Sweet

Don't be fooled by the title .... our summer so far has been anything but sweet. Rain, rain and more rain is what we have had. Heck, I've even been wearing socks with my sandals and capris.   An odd combination (only indoors ... I'm not that odd, yet) to behold, but it just has not been warm enough to go barefoot. Mind you, my perennial garden is gorgeous. So, enough about the weather! Just before my break, I left you with a bit of a tease. This is the top that has been sitting on my shelf for a few years now. During the process, I absolutely loved this design. Then, on my bed it went for a looksee ..... and I was no longer in love with this quilt. Tooooooo much white! The little bit of blue sashing that you see might be the solution. Too much work to go that route. So, it got folded up and shelved.
A couple of months ago, out came that top. It was time to buckle down and do something with it. Now, a lot of you would be happy with it as is and you are thinking that I am a little bit crazy. Perhaps, I am after all! :o)
After cutting up some more blue sashing and laying them over the white sashing, I am happier with the look now. It will be a long process, but in the end, I will have a stunning quilt that I can be very proud of and have no regrets.
Where does one start with this remodeling? At one end working towards the other one row at a time.Stay tuned.
Have a great day!
BTW ..... Summer Sweet is the name of this design.

As you said yes we would be saying I love it with all the white. But when I saw what you did with adding the blue I thought its a great look. Lots of luck can't wait to see it done. Great job

You are the one that has to LOVE it, so if that is what it takes, go for it!
Either way, it is one gorgeous quilt!

are you tearing this apart to inset the blue? wow. Would it be easier and just as effective to applique it?

It will be stunning with the change -- and if that's what it takes for you to be happy with the quilt its well worth it -- why have a quilt that shows that much investment of time if just a little more you can like it!

It definitely looks better with the blue and I definitely wouldn't do that job. Good on you for having that much patience.

It is a gorgeous quilt either way -- but if you won't be happy until you've added the blue sashing, then go for it! I can't wait to see your progress!

Oh, my, you're right, I think it is lovely as it is, but it is even more eye-popping with the blue. But, oh, dear, what a job you have ahead of you. Your work, as always, is exquisite.

I admire your persistence to get it the way you like it. I think its a great quilt and I can see all the work that has gone into it thus far.

Oh my word, what a stunning quilt that will be. Lots of work but I know you will be much happier with it with the blue.

I think it looks beautiful either way but the important thing is that you have to be happy with it.

This is a gorgeous quilt...with or without the blue! But you have to do what makes you love it the most. I love these blocks!

I'm with you. I'd add the blue. A lot of work but so worth it to have a quilt you are happy with.

I made a smaller version of this quilt several years ago. Mine is in all blues and whites. Somewhat old fashioned looking.

It's your quilt, and you want to be happy with it....go for it!

I can see what you mean about too much white. Adding the blue does make it pop.

By the way, I really love the flower wall hanging quilt you put up in a previous post. Veerrryy nice!
