Then, on my bed it went for a looksee ..... and I was no longer in love with this quilt. Tooooooo much white! The little bit of blue sashing that you see might be the solution. Too much work to go that route. So, it got folded up and shelved.
A couple of months ago, out came that top. It was time to buckle down and do something with it. Now, a lot of you would be happy with it as is and you are thinking that I am a little bit crazy. Perhaps, I am after all! :o)
After cutting up some more blue sashing and laying them over the white sashing, I am happier with the look now. It will be a long process, but in the end, I will have a stunning quilt that I can be very proud of and have no regrets.
Where does one start with this remodeling? At one end working towards the other one row at a time.

As you said yes we would be saying I love it with all the white. But when I saw what you did with adding the blue I thought its a great look. Lots of luck can't wait to see it done. Great job

are you tearing this apart to inset the blue? wow. Would it be easier and just as effective to applique it?
ReplyDeleteIt will be stunning with the change -- and if that's what it takes for you to be happy with the quilt its well worth it -- why have a quilt that shows that much investment of time if just a little more you can like it!
It definitely looks better with the blue and I definitely wouldn't do that job. Good on you for having that much patience.

oh i like the quilt either way........so if you want to unstitch it all go for it and put the blue in.......you will be happy with your quilt then.........

ReplyDeleteI made a smaller version of this quilt several years ago. Mine is in all blues and whites. Somewhat old fashioned looking.
