My Humble Quilt

We all have to start somewhere …… and this is one of my firsts. A few years ago, when my SIL saw this photo, she asked me “what is it?”. The look on her face said it all. Bet you are asking the same, too. :o)

Do you see the roads and all the scenic items all along the way? This was made for a nephew when he was very young. He had all of those wee cars and I thought that he could play with them on his quilt during his downtime. He loved that quilt and it was on his bed until his teen years.

The centre is a printed panel and the piano keys are out of poly/cotton fabric and it was hand quilted. My sister still has that quilt stored away for him.

Gosh, how proud I was of this masterpiece. I even brought it into work and showed everyone. I’m glad that I made this quilt. We all have to start somewhere and this was just one step on the road of creating.

Have a great day!

That is quite a quilt! I like the concept behind it.

It's a great quilt. My boys would have loved it too, they had a carpet all laid oiut like a town. But it didn't have piano key parking spaces all around the edges. Nor was it made with love.

That is an absolutely fantastic quilt! What a great gift for a little boy who isn't going to be thrilled with the flowers and hearts and even the occasional star that we "lady quilters" come up with. Good for you!

I think it's great. My son would also be delighted with it. In fact I have a train track fabric panel that I still haven't quilted yet (sometimes I just lay it out on the floor LOL)

My hexagons are not done with paper. I just draw around a template, a 1/4" rough cut around them, and stitch by hand on the lines drawn.
Could you tell me something? Being a new blogger, when people leave a comment, especially with a question, do I respond back on the the person's blog like I have done here, or do I respond on my own blog...
