Swap Maple Leaves

I am up north and this is what I’m working on while visiting my Mom. I hope to have all of this finished by the time I return to Toronto (will be away for a few weeks).

There is machine quilting in the ditch through all those squares, but there will be hand quilting in this piece on the border and all around the maple leaves.

This is just a rough mock-up for placement – it will not be the final version as it still needs a lot of tweaking.

The maple leaves were fussy cut from fabric and I’ll attach them using the buttonhole stitch.

I’m liking this one a lot! There is just something about fall and maple leaves against a blue sky. You can probably tell that it is my favourite season of the year.

Have a great day!

Oh my! Looking nice Rose Marie!!

I'm with you on fall being my favorite time of the year. I think it symbolizes slowing the pace of life just a little....along with cooler temps!

Enjoy you visit.

I love your quilt. Fall is also one of my favorite times of the year. For me, it always feels like a fresh start, which may not make sense since it's harvest time, which is the end of the growing season, but maybe because school starts up again, it's time to change routines, make changes, and begin again. Plus, I just love the fall fabrics and quilting projects with pumpkins and leaves, etc. I love it! Can't wait to see the finished product.

OH, that's fabulous - Rose Marie! Great colour choices, so simple but so effective.

This sure looks promising. Fall is not at all my favorite season. I wish I took place in this swap and was your pal again, these are my colors :)

That is just beautifull. I have done something wrong on mine, well I will try the blocking Janice recommended and hope that will help or maybe I will add some extra to it. We will see.

Those Autumn Maple leaves look lovely against the blue. Down where I live we call it Autumn not Fall - possibly because we have lots of evergreen trees that behave differently. So our Autumn is a mix of all the autumn colours interspersed with greens of many hues. Enjoy your time away!

I love the contrast of the orange on the blue. I think you captured very well the colours of Autumn or Fall! Take care.
