As my red/white hexi top is being sewn together, I just had to start playing around with the red hexies in the borders. This is just a start .... many more red hexies to be made.
The panels on the left have all been sewn together so that I can get a head start on placing my red hexies.
Here is a close-up of the hexies that have been joined together so far.All my red scraps were pulled, ironed and ready to be used. Can my borders be made entirely out of this pile? Only time will tell but there is such a nice selection of reds in that pile.
For my July binding challenge, there are just 1-1/2 sides to do and this quilt will be finished. I've been taking this with me for babysitting and work on it when kiddies are down for nap time.Major cleaning has been happening lately in my studio and in the bedroom adjacent to my studio. Hubby needs a bed that has a mattress and box spring so that a bed rail can be installed. With his Parkinson's, he is starting to have an issue getting out of bed and needs a rail to help him. The studio bed fits the bill and that will be moved upstairs for him and his platform bed will be gifted to a niece. So there will a flurry of moving furniture around in the next week or so.Another thing that I arranged for him was to get all his medication into a weekly blister pack. Now, I can check at a glance to see that he is taking his meds at the right time each day. He was getting a bit confused about his meds and I jumped on that solution quickly.
Home Care did come in to do a home inspection to ensure our home was safe for him and me. There were a few things that had to be corrected and now our home is safe .... for now. As his Parkinson's progresses, we may to have a few more things installed to enable hubby to get around and that will be dealt with at the time. Most likely he will need a chair lift on the stairs and a person will be coming to give us a quote and determine what is best for him.
As you can imagine, our lives are ever changing. At some point, we will have to discuss moving out of our current home and into a senior complex ..... but just not yet ..... but that day is coming.
So ..... cherish your day, cherish your life!

Wow - your red and white hexie quilt will be done before you know it! So many changes......if it makes your home easier for hubby it's worth it but as you say, there is the future to consider too.
What a fabulous idea for your border - have fun with it!!! It sounds like forward and flexible thinking will serve you well.....all the best with finding solutions as things change.
The red hexies for the border are a perfect idea! Sounds like your being proactive and using common sense with your husband's needs. Happy stitching!
Yes, cherish our days. Thinking of you both as your needs change. Being flexible is so important. Sounds like you're doing a great job!
That all sounds very busy, great to have a safe home though and blister packs are fantastic. Loving your red quilt, I hope you do manage to finish your borders out of your scraps. Go you on the binding.
Advancing into another cycle of care is difficult but I see that you are aware of his condition and how to manipulate his care with professionals that give you the best advise.
Home is always better while they are aware surroundings that are familiar and precious routine helps alot. Blister packs are helpful, I literally hand Murray his meds and watch him take them so that it is completed, I found when I vacuumed sometimes I would find one on the floor under the chair so I take the extra step.
I am so sorry you both are going through these stages of health remember you need time for you as well hire a person once in a while to do housekeeping, I hired someone to do my windows last week it is a whole new feeling seeing this big task done!
hugs to you both
Your hexie project is the best to keep your fingers busy and your mind on something else. I am working on a couple of them it is so rewarding to see progress and yet take it with you for those appointments.
I guess this is way to long for a comment...LOL
I hadn't realized the embroidered red work in the middle of those hexies. This quilt is so inspiring.
I truly hope you can adapt well to the challenges going on in your life and the life of your loved one.
Oh that's going to be really pretty.....
The home care field is a lot to work thru..... Start looking at the next stage so you can possibly have options.......
