Borders ... ugh
My Pie in the Sky is assembled .... except for the borders. Now, usually this is where this project would get shelved .... but not this time. I am determined to get this to the flimsy stage. At first, I thought this was going to be a piece of cake. The outer border was definitely to be included and the inner border was auditioned. As in .... many times and finally decided on the darker blue. When my DH saw the mock up (#1), he questioned about the lack of contrast between the two borders. So more fabric was pulled for auditioning. Continuing with blues (#2 and #3) ....

#2 ;-)
I like the first one best. There is SO much going on in the blocks, I like the "quieter" border. And that outer blue picks up several of the blues in blocks very nicely. But it's difficult to compare the others to that first one, seeing only a small section.
I also like #2 and #7
I like No 3.............
Number three if not number one.
I like your first choice the best!
I like #3 -- but it is your quilt sometimes we have to go with first instinct.
Karen
I like your original 2 blues at the top.( that blue is the nicest volour )
I like your original choices of the 2 blues-or the gold is good too!Lovely quilt!
I too like the blues. I really like your original choice.
Either one or nine, and I am a blue girl, but the gold really pops and you can always bind in blue if you want to, in fact I would recommend it.
I really like the first choice. But I also like the gold. This must be why I seem to make more quilts without borders than those with!
The gold is nice but I think your first choice was best! Hope you come up with something that satisfies you. I often get hung up on borders too.
You know, I like the first one too. There is so much going on in the quilt that a quiet border calms it down and gives the eye a resting place. Or how about a narrow gold border between the two blues?
i like the bright blue in the first photo
I like the first one best also. It allows your eye to be drawn to the center, not the border.
This is where you could get a bit stuck from lots of choices, lol. I think I like the first choice the most.
Sorry to do this but I think you need to change the inner blue one I think it is too dark for the rest of the quilt maybe that gold 6outer boarder for your inner boarder then a rusty red...
it is all personal opinon`s or maybe you will have to take the whole tope to sew sisters and get more fabric (with alot of additioning)..LOL
Definitely the first one xxx
Blue #2 the first choice. It really pops the center of the quilt.
I like your original one the best - isnt that always the way!!
No 1!
i like #4 and my favorite is #6 (the wavy stripe)
I like #1 best too!
I love the 3rd picture, though the first one is a very close second!
I love it! My choices for the border would be either the green outer with the blue inner border or the blue inner border with the wavy brown stripes. Whatever you choose, it will be wonderful.
To be honest, I like the blue outer border the best. Why not change the inner border to the white used in the block backgrounds? Maybe make it a tad smaller.
Third one down is my choice, but I love blue best.
I know I'm a day late and a dollar short, but I vote for just the one inner border and - gasp - no outer border!
Fabulous quilt!!! I like border 3. What did you decide? Your taste is impeccable, so I am not worried!
I like the gold..was it #9? Gorgeous quilt!
I don't know which one I like the best, but that is the most gorgeous quilt!
I started making blocks for this one a while ago, but now I wish I had fabrics like yours to make them of. They are so stunning!
Yay! I finished sewing and quilting mine this weekend :-)
