Diamond Stars

Once I finished my hexagon top, my fingers needed another English Paper Piecing project to work on. This new project was started this spring but I never got around to showing it to you.

So far, this is half of the diamonds made (it will be queen size). The hexagon fillers are made out of two different fabrics to give it an added surprise. Actually, I didn't have enough of either fabric to use, so decided to use both and I have to say that the look is rather interesting.

I was having a little bit of problem with my star points meeting in the centres, so added the little hexagon to hide them and I much prefer the look.

I want to do something different with the borders, but don't know what yet. Probably applique....

Have a great day!

This is lovely. Have you done any shell shape paper piecing? It's going to be my next hand project - one to be kept by my side for all those spare minutes in waiting rooms etc. I did a small piece as part of a sampler quilt from Lynne Edwards' second book but haven't decided on colours - possibly Japanese prints, what do you think?

GORGEOUS ! I love that kind of quilt, and your small hexies in the centers just pop up. Lovely!
I love, love your pastel hexagons garden, too! (hexies are sooo addictive and relaxing). Just like you, I rarely go for pastel tones, and yet those quilts always catch my eyes : soooo soft and comfy looking! I can't count how many times I went to the quilt shop, with the firm intention to choose pastels.... and then I come back with strong, contrasting colors ! LOL LOL I'll have to get stronger and stick to my first idea, next time ;>)

ENJOY your sewing, dear !
THANKS for the inspiration,

So much interest here. Even with the white fabric. Pure delight. This is going to be a special one. I can feel it. I was utterly shocked to read you were going to do some applique in the border. Huh. hheeee!!!

Good idea to add those hexagons in the center. Your quilt project is progressing into a lovely quilt. Lots of stitching on it.

It's gorgeous! With the hexagons in the centre, the stars are like the ones I used in my blue and white quilt. They're addictive to stitch, aren't they? :-)
