Fons & Porter’s Love Of Quilting had this quilt in their May/June 2000 magazine.
I loved it …. but the layout was tweaked by me …. which is usual. I hardly ever make a quilt exactly as shown. I look at a pattern and see something entirely different and usually go my way.
So, the quilt was made; a photo submitted to their Show and Tell department. All was forgotten until one day a few years later ….. an envelope arrived with a letter and a magazine. What a thrill for me!
Yes, that is me showing off my quilt. How very kind they were to select my photo and letter to publish.
So, there, my claim to fame! Neat, eh! :o)
Originally, my plan was to make a queen size quilt and I made enough blocks for that size. Instead, my flower blocks were made into a twin-size quilt; thus resulting in leftovers. My previous post shows what was made with those extra blocks. Now, I never throw anything away. You just never know when something will come in handy.
Have a great day!

Rose Marie,
Thanks for visiting and your kind comment. I love smocking, but am always apprehensive about the construction part.
Congratulations for being featured in Fons and Porter. You do great work, so I am not surprised they picked your quilt to show.
what a nice surprise and congratulations, your quilt was worthy of being published, your version is so much more interesting.
How cool is that! I love your version. What a terrific adaptation of a pattern and what a great compliment to have it featured.
Well Rosemarie, now I understand why you had leftover blocks :-) It is certainly a thrill to get 'mentioned in dispatches' as I call it. Congratulations on finishing a great quilt and getting published.
Congratulations! I do remember that pattern and kept it too. I like your version better. I am like you always trying to make a pattern my own. Great job.
I think this prooves you´ve made it. You must be very proud, and I am too.

Congratulations on having your picture and story selected for the magazine. I have never submitted anything like that but think it would be a real hoot to see someething I made in one of my favorite magazines.
I have sent pictures but never got them published :( Your quilt is a beauty and deserves to be published in their magazine, congratulations.
Oh yes, I can see why they published your version - it is very well done! I once had a quilter's hint used on their TV show, they sent me a nice letter and an autographed copy of Quilters Complete Guide!
Congratulations Rose Marie. Your quilt is lovely. I like your version better than the original.
Your quilt is lovely! Congratulations on making it into the magazine!
Very cool! I've never been in a magazine. It's not something I anticipate ever happening either. So I'll enjoy living vicariously through you. In the future, I hope Hank & Ashes could be in the magazines, too. I mean, you know what I mean. hee!
Congratulations! Your quilt is just beautiful, and you certainly deserve to have the photo published! I made the cover quilt from that magazine in blues and purple.
Congratulations on the honor! It's a beautiful quilt and a well deserved recognition. Hugs, Finn
