Stars in my eye ...

Mid-December saw me quickly getting packed and onto a train to be with family while they attended to a family matter. So, whatever plans I had for getting some quilting done went with me on the train.

This top was put together very quickly .... as in 2 days ..... I was just getting ready to make the backing and sandwiching this top so that it would be ready for machine quilting when I got the phone call. Instead, this top was given as a Xmas present as is. :o) The idea for this top came from here. Mine looks different, but this lady sure spurred me on.

I'm back home now, suffering with a cold virus. Yuck ...

Since coming home, the girls have been my shadow and all they want to do is have their treats and play and then snooze. Lately, their favourite toy is just a simple string that is pulled underneath a piece of fabric . Both of them go nuts over this.

The only project that I had time to grab and take with me were my hexagon stars. I'm on a roll with them and have continued to keep sewing the stars together since coming home. This is my set-up for keeping the stars in order as they are sewn together. A section is removed from the design wall and pinned onto a piece of styrofoam board and then I continue to work in rows. Right now, I just don't feel like working on anything else and just need some mindless sewing. Next week will be better once this cold virus gets out of my system.

So, until then .... Happy New Year to one and all!

I love that top - one of the items in my want to do list. I have just sorted out the pieces for a lap quilt which I started cutting and strip piecing earlier this week. That is super fast but will take a break for the New Year celebration at our weekend home with all my little people.

Rose Marie, Your projects are terrific! I hope all is well with your family. I certainly hope that you will be feeling better soon too. Your kitties seem to be just like mine. String does the trick. Feel better soon.

Okay I am not a quilter but I love quilts. I think your hexagon stars are beautiful. I know it would probably be quite difficult, but I thought it would look really sharp if you made the sides of the quilt with the points of the stars instead of the regular straight side that are bound.

Okay, yes I did take one quilting class and the lady who taught the class said that maybe quilting was not my craft. Although, she did said I was very good at applique. LOL!!!

Anyway your work is lovely, keep up the great work.
