Quilt to the rescue

I just couldn't take it anymore .... how cold has it been here this winter? So cold, that our front door (metal insulated) was transferring the cold from the outside to the inside. Standing anywhere near the front door, a person soon got chilled. So, what to do about it? I remember seeing on someone's blog where they put a quilt over their doors. Aha ... I can do that too. One of those removable extension curtain rods, some hooks and viola .... instant warmth. Should have done it years earlier, but we are now snug and warm. Perhaps next fall, I'll buy some nice heavy upholstery fabric and make a curtain for our front and back door to co-ordinate with our decor. For right now and our cold temps .... this works! More sashings and cornerstone blocks got done this week. My progress is coming along very nicely and not too many more blocks to do! :o)
Have a nice week!

Thats a pretty quilt. I noticed some writing on it. Is it a round robin quilt or something you worked on with the folks at one of the guilds?

It just goes to show you cant have too many quilts, you'll never know when you need one!! Looks like you are progressing well on the cornerstones and sashings.

Yes it was a great entry way when I visited to see a gorgeous quilt hanging as soon as you come in the door and it is a very grand idea!!

now you have to show what you see when you sit in your chair it is such a quilters vision.

A clever solution, and an attractive one to boot. Hope it warms up for you soon.

Good Solution. I can remember when old houses here had long tie back drapes for the doors and even halfway up the passage between the front and back of the house.

Great idea!! The sashings are looking so good. Tell me how you're appliquing your leaves? What method?

If it keeps the cold out thats a good thing, and it even looks nice! The applique you are working on looks very interesting too.

What a great idea to hang a quilt over the door. I have put crocheted afghans down along the bottoms to keep the cold from coming underneath. I love the Tea in the Garden quilt. It is just gorgeous.
