Once this corner is quilted, my klosjes quilt will be close to being 3/4 done. So, for now, I'm just chugging along ....
While hand quilting, my thimbles dull my needles and my handy emery board (the kind with foam layer in the middle) is perfect for sticking my needles into to sharpen up and I'm ready to go again.
At the end of every week, I can see progress and the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter!
Have a great day!
Ohhh I can't wait to see the finished quilt. It's really coming along beautifully. I have so much respect for women who hand quilt. Learning to hand quilt in on my bucket list and I'm hoping to start teaching myself this year...fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is beautiful, and your hand quilting is wonderful. You do such beautiful work. Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteThat is an unusual setting for the Klosjes. I will be looking forward to seeing the finished product. I can tell it is going to be oh so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI never realized how small the blocks were until scaled alongside the emery and your thimbles! Oh. my. word!!! :-D I liked the quilt very much before, but now I love it!! LOL What amazing work you have done and are doing! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

That is going to be such a beautiful quilt when finished! Interesting tip about the needles in the emery board -- they don't get little nicks on them from the emery?
ReplyDeleteI so love this quilt. Haven't heard of the emory board trick. Will have to try it on my next hand quilting project.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love how you are quilting this...suits it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be so beautiful - and you are making great progress!! I like the idea of using the emery board like that - a great tip.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt! What are you using for marking it?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the emory board tip
Thanks for the tip about the emory board. I never realized my needles were getting blunt from the thimble. Makes sense though. I love what you're working on.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder your hands were getting sore, there is a lot of quilting on this quilt! It is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI'm about at that place on the one I'm quilting too. I try to avoid looking at how far I have yet to go. My Mom's pin cushion had a little strawberry on a string that was used for sharpening needles. She said it was an "emery bag" and I've always wondered what was in it because it would be easy to make and handy to have.
ReplyDeleteGreat! I know how you feel, but I am not quite 3/4 way with my Circus Stars, but I am getting there.
ReplyDeleteRose Marie..this is going to be one stunning quilt...
ReplyDeleteLove the setting for this quilt, and your hand quilting will make it even better. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea about using an emery board to sharpen your needles.
ReplyDeleteThe finished quilt will be such a treasure! I love the posie motif you are doing around the border...bloomin' inspiring, really! Kudos on getting close to finishing!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful work -- absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait to see the finished product. By the way, what do you use to mark your quilts?
ReplyDeleteGeri in SC
Still feel so nervous seeing that marker on your quilt! I trust that you say it will come out, but yikes....you are brave!
ReplyDeleteIf I remember correct you use washable markers. I ahve bought some and if this is what you use can you let me know. Im alittle afraid to try them.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Rose Marie! what a great tip, I will certainly use it. This means the emeryboard stay in place as well, great! Can't wait to see the big reveal! :)
ReplyDeleteAren't you smart to use that foam emory board for your needles! I need to adopt that idea. Your quilts and quilting are wonderful. Always a joy to see what you are doing!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished quilt. The emery board idea for needles is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteSlow and steady wins the race. I do have a question though. I am just learning... I have made two hand appliqued quilts and one hand quilted (baby quilt size), but I noticed you have red marks on your quilt. Will you share what you use to mark your quilting lines? And thanks for the emery board tip. I would have never thought of that.
