Trimming time ...
On my Sweet Dreams quilt, all the blocks are done, the rows put together and it is time now to trim the side and corner setting triangles. Whenever I make a quilt that is on-point, my triangles are always made a tad bigger than what is called for and then trimmed afterwards. Do you see those yellow round things at the bottom of the photo? They are weights and come in handy for holding my top in place while trimming. I bought these weights (pkg. of 4) but a couple of canned goods will do the job quite well too.

Your quilt is beautiful! Is there a pattern?
ReplyDeleteWow is that a pretty quilt top!! I love the idea of weights! I can never seem to remember to bring something to the table to hold my top down while trimming. Those would fit in the drawer with my rotary cutters. Where did you find them?

I use Color Catchers all the time except mine are Shout brand. Have never seen those you show. If you need more just let me know and I can get them and send to you.

This is one of my all time favorites, doing vine sashings like that are definitely on my to-do list..... soon!! Great job!

By the time I get that far, all the fabric has been used in the triangles and there is nothing left to cut off.

Oh my, hasn't that quilt turned out beautifully! I use oversized triangles too, it's much easier to trim a little back than be short. Cans of salmon or tuna make good weights too!
