Since we all love eye candy, DH and I try our best to take interesting photos of my tops and quilts. Here are a few shots of how we get those photos.
In this photo, DH is telling me to shift the quilt top to the left because the right bottom is scrunched up:
Hmmm .... maybe I should tweak it a bit more to make sure it is straight. We still have to rig up some kind of system so that the pole, that has the top clipped to, is not hanging down over the railing. That is why it looks like the top outer border is smaller than the others. Until we rig up something, this will have to do for now.
Now, once I'm happy with the way it looks, I climb up onto a step ladder to get that perfect shot. If we didn't use the step ladder, the photo angle would be an uphill shot and it would not look right. Miss Hank would really like to get in on the action, too. I didn't realize that DH was snapping shots of me in action and once seeing all his photos, I thought that they would make an interesting post. :o)
There you have it .... do you think it was worth all the work to get this photo? For us, yes! We enjoy doing it!
Pie in the Sky is a Kim Diehl pattern from her book Simple Graces. If you have her book, you can see where my version differs from her pattern.
What can I say ... I'm very happy to have another top ready for quilting. The number of tops are growing and growing and I will have to buckle down and really get working on them.
Have a great day!
I think it looks gorgeous. I love your version. Love how you take the photos, too. I need to get more artistic!
ReplyDeletewhat size is it it looks very big.........its a lovely quilt..........and yes I like taking the pics of my quilts too.........it's fun working out where to go to take the pics etc
ReplyDeleteI too have to get more creative cause that just looks awesome! I think that is why you got the house for a new display area...LOL
ReplyDeleteIt really looks amazing send a copy to Kim Diehl I did and she loved to see it!
Great Border fabric you picked to go with it, thanks for your extra effort!
That is such a pretty quilt! I reckon that's why you moved too, that railing is perfect for displaying quilts.
ReplyDeleteOHHH love it!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Top is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Manuela
It looks so gorgeous!!! Love it! I've made a couple of the blocks for this quilt, but now I really want to dig out my fabrics and finish it! Thanks for the inspiration :-)
ReplyDeleteOhhhh! I love it. Great colors. You have the best stash, Rose Marie. I agree. Send Kim Diehl a copy. She would love to see it!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt. I really like the colours you used. It looks great with natural lighting and I think all your efforts paid off.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Beautiful! Yes, I have all of her books and stashed fabrics to make Kim's version/colors. Oh, but I love the colors you used so maybe I'll be making more than one quilt. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing how you set up for pics. ;)
It is a stunning quilt. Love that border and the process pictures were fun!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful quilt top. Taking photos of large quilts is never easy. I love how you go about it.
ReplyDeleteThe park near where I used to live had such a good wide chain-link fence that was ideal for taking pictures even if I had to carry ladder and quilt and camera by bike. The park here has a fence too but also trees with shadows and narrower sections. Taking a good picture can be a challenge.
ReplyDeleteI love your version of that quilt. The colors are perfectly arranged.
beautiful quilt and I loved the photo shoot shots!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteMaryk.
I didn't realize how big your quilt is until I saw it with people in the picture for size reference.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! Now I have to dig my book out to see Kim's version. LOL
ReplyDeletewow...that's an awesome piece of work...
ReplyDeleteI love it! What a beautiful accomplishment! I have several KD quilts flagged -this inspires me to "get crackin'"!
ReplyDeleteI really like your version off this quilt - I have the book but wouldn't really have recognised it right up. Very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteBellissimi lavori! Complimenti. Ciao.
