I'm participating once again in Amy's Blogger's Creative Festival and my entry is my flannel jacket in autumn colours. I just love wearing this jacket .... so nice and cozy warm and bright! Bright ... oh yes ....
I went through my jacket sewing patterns and picked one that was simple and just started cutting out my flannels and making some 4-patch blocks. The pattern was enlarged slightly (about 1" overall) because once it was machine quilted there would be a decrease in the finished size. One thing that is missing is pockets. That is something that will be added as I really do miss putting my hands in my pockets to keep them warm when out for walks. Now what kind of pockets that will not interfere with the overall look of the jacket? Will have to think about that. DH and I were out for a walk and he commented that I blend in well with all the swirling leaves that are on the ground.
So, go and take many peeks at Amy's post and enjoy all the other quilts that are being shown. So, so, so many gorgeous quilts!
Have a great day!
Lovely autumn colours Rose Marie and sounds so warm and cuddly.
ReplyDeleteSarebbe bello vedertela indossata....
ReplyDeleteCiao
Domenica
I love your jacket! Could you tell us what pattern you used?
ReplyDeleteOh I have been wanting to do this for ever-so-long! I even bought a pattern when I was in the states long ago. Trouble is...I think this kind of work needs machine piecind if it is to be cut to a pattern later. I actually got the pattern out last week and looked it over. Is it a UFO if one hasn't actually begun?
ReplyDeleteThis is really, really pretty!!
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous. I love it.
ReplyDeleteLove the jacket. I'd put the pockets into the seam line so they don't show on the outside.
ReplyDeleteLove your jacket. How is your new ruler does it realy sharpen your blades. I was hoping it would help if you had a very tiny nick if ti would help it out.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is the first quilted clothing I've seen at the festival...very nice work!!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to know you had fun making it. I bought a quilted vest and jacket pattern recently but haven't yet focused on finding the right fabrics to make them. This is inspiring.
Hey, how about some leaf-shaped pockets in flannel, wool or suede with bound or satin stitched edges stitched right on top? Or just find some fun gloves in one of the colors of your flannel to go with this one for when your hands need a little warmth. Once again, love it!
Love your jacket..couldn't be in nicer colors!! Maybe you need more 4 patches for the pockets? I can see that, lined finished 4 patches added where the pockets go. I suppose you could insert them into the side seam, but that does sound like alot of work to me.
ReplyDeleteI've got you added to the UFO challenge with 3 projects. Hugs, Finn
LOL. I can see you would blend nicely with fall leaves. Great job on the jacket and I would add pockets too as I am lost without them. Love Lois
