Learning curve

It has been one year since we took in the girls and in that timeframe, Ashes has learned to wail. Whenever Ashes saw a stray cat, all she would do is make ‘puff, puff ’ noises and slink real low to the window or patio door. Hank would wail at a strange cat and Ashes would just stare at Hank and then stare at the strange cat and her head would be going back and forth. Suddenly one day this winter, Ashes echoed the wail (very tentative and she kept looking back at Hank to see if she did it right) and the two of them continued to wail together at the stranger.

So ….. a wailing they go! Too funny!

Have a great day!

P.S. In case anyone was wondering, a neighbour feeds the stray cats and there is usually 6 cats sprawled out on their porch whenever we go for a walk

  1. Oh, I know this has got to be music to your ears! I want to laugh but I'm not sure I should. Cat wailing can be painful.

This photo cracks me up. Bummer strays but I do have to wonder now ~ what would my crew do?

  3. Can I have your doors? They are so big and inviting the sun in.

I don't have cats, but the thought of two cats wailing at the strays makes me crack up.

I do have a wild rabbit in my backyard named Stew that eats my flowers and lives under my deck.

  4. Kitties know how to make their feelings heard, even if it takes a while to learn how to do it! Many years ago we had a cat that never talked, but after each visit to the boarding kennels when we went on holidays she came home talking....she soon forgot how to do it again until the next time she went to the kennels.

  7. Cats are the most interesting creatures. I have a wailer in my house too, but she chooses to wail over quilt batting or scraps of felt. She will carry them around the house (usually around 2 or 3:00am) crying like her heart is breaking. Its all very odd.
