I use a wooden drying rack for holding my strips of material when they are being worked on. This way, my strips remain wrinkle free and my bin sits on top of the rack, close at hand to hold the pattern, completed blocks, etc.
I tried really hard to get the rack that my Mom used when we were growing up, but my sister would not part with it. Oh darn! :o) I bought this rack this summer, but it is not as sturdy as the old ones; but it will do just fine for my needs.
When this rack is not needed, it folds down very nicely for storing away.
Have a great day!
I have that same rack and like it but not nearly as much as the old one my mother had either. I have no idea what happened to hers. I keep looking in thrift shops but I never see any. I'd buy it in a minute. This one comes undone every time I move it and it's too small.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea...I use to use my treadmill quite the same way LOL!
ReplyDeleteYour idea is better.
What a great idea - I think this would be a great addition to my sewing space too. THanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea! I have one of those from my kids' college days - also not very sturdy, but if you walk carefully around it ...
ReplyDeleteI recognize a bunch of your fabric - April Cornell's Moda fabric -- beautiful!
This is a great idea as it is not the best part of quilting to iron the fabric.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great idea. I have 2 racks sitting around here and now I'll have to start a new project to put them to good use.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea -- I use mine for laundry, but, I could always get another one for fabric :0).
ReplyDeleteNow isn't that a great idea. I bet it would also get the quilt from becoming a UFO as well as all the fabric is out in view instead of stuck away in a bin.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I know there is a rack like that at our family summer house... hmmm... *lol*
ReplyDeleteLove the pics of your studio in the previous post! Ohh... how I would love to have room for a studio!
Take care! And have a great Sunday!
What a good idea! And it looks nice as well. I also like the idea with the cardboard bins for each project you are working on.
ReplyDeleteA great idea to avoid ironing over and over (not my favorite passtime!). The fabrics on the racks look lovely and have a spring feeling. I wonder what will become of them. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI have been using clothes hangers for my strips but they tend to slip off of the plastic...the wood on the drying rack would hold better. I'll keep an eye out at the boot sales!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have a drying rack for the same purpose! Great minds think alike. :)
ReplyDeleteI found mine at a Target store. It is made of sturdy enameled coated metal. Ikea has a couple, too.
I found a wall hanging unit in my Ballard Designs catalog. Page 52, Late Fall. ballarddesigns.com
Would love one or two of those!
A friend of mine brought some back from Germany. Now those can hold a lot of fabric...for some strange reason, she uses them to dry laundry...
