I have been browsing quilting sites on the web for over a year before I started my own blog. During that time, there have been challenges to use fabric from stash for quilts. So the idea to use my stash was born with this queen size quilt top.
After the top was done, I didn’t like the look (too blah) so decided to add appliqué here and there and it finished the look and I am happy with it now. :o) Remember, I have mentioned before about adding applique to a top after it has been assembled. It can be done, except you are dealing with more bulk and in my case, there was a lot of bulk because the top is queen size ... but I did it!
It’s ready to be sandwiched and it will be hand quilted.

Have a great day!
I love the addition of the applique! Beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteThe applique really sets it off and gives it zip! Great looking quilt. Congrats for a job well done. :)
ReplyDeleteI like how you used HST in the corners of the 9 patches. It creates a tertiary pattern. I've met a lady in Denver-town who actually appliqués after it is quilted. Talk about added bulk!
ReplyDeletethank you for dropping by and leaving a comment, you're doing a great job on this big,big quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea! The dark applique really sets it off so nicely!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful work and a great idea! I love it.
ReplyDeleteI love the dark applique. It really does add to the quilt -- and this is all from stash? Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great improvement. Looks so much more zingy.
ReplyDeleteRose Marie that really sparkles, great job.
ReplyDeleteI love the additional applique!!....and although I like scrappy quilts - your two color quilt is great!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that added applique really changes the look of the quilt. Were you at all tempted to applique in all the blocks?
ReplyDeletethe applique really makes the quilt look even more special. I've appliqued a full quilt before and it is a lot more work, but the results are worth it
ReplyDeletelove and hugs gina
The applique sure does look good -- and take the "blah" away. Good idea :))
